Shakira set the stage on fire in spangly red sequins, and performed a medley of her greatest hits like “She Wolf,” “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Whenever, Wherever.” She was accompanied by the Puerto Rican hip-hop sensation Bad Bunny for a moment to perform the classic boogaloo song “I Like It Like That” together.
J.Lo, as a nod to her character in her latest movie “Hustlers”, danced on a pole like a pro before her quick costume change and a J Balvin feature. She ran through her top and biggest hits like “Get On the Floor”, and “Waiting for Tonight.”
There was also a touching moment when J. Lo’s daughter Emme get up with her onstage during the song “Let’s Get Loud,” and after a quick wardrobe change, J.
Lo emerged in a resplendent fur-ish or feather-ish coat showcasing both the American and Puerto Rican flag which represents her heritage.
As J. Lo unfurled her coat, her daughter Emme sang a few parts of “Born in the USA. ”The two queens then joined forces centerstage for a mashup of their greatest solo tracks, which includes Lopez’s “Let’s Get Loud” and Shakira’s “Waka Waka (This Time For Africa).”
With their dazzling and spellbinding halftime show at Super Bowl 2020, one of the most-watched TV spectacles across the United States every year, J.Lo and Shakira further solidified Latin pop as a strong and dominant force in pop culture across mainstream America.
