New Superman Movie Will Star A Black Actor As The Man Of Steel, According To Reports


The new Superman reboot will star a Black actor as the Man of Steel.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has been trying to wrap its head around a Black Superman story for months.

Novelist Ta-Nehisi Coates will write the script for the reboot of the new superhero film that will be produced by J.J. Abrams.

In a statement to Shadow and Act, Coates said: “To be invited into the DC Extended Universe by Warner Bros., DC Films and Bad Robot is an honor.

“I look forward to meaningfully adding to the legacy of America’s most iconic mythic hero.”

Coates is a superstar author whose books include The Water Dancer, Between the World and Me, The Beautiful Struggle, and We Were Right Years In Power: An American Tragedy.

J.J. Abrams also told Shadow and Act in a statement: “There is a new, powerful and moving Superman story yet to be told.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with the brilliant Mr. Coates to help bring that story to the big screen, and we’re beyond thankful to the team at Warner Bros. for the opportunity.”

According to THR, sources said that the project is being set up as a Black Superman story.

Superman first graced the big screen with Richard Donner’s 1978 movie Superman: The Motion Picture, starring Christopher Reeve.

Brandon Routh stepped into the role in 2006 before Henry Cavill donned the cape for 2013’s Man of Steel, 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League in 2017.
