Surface star Eddie Hassell has been shot during an attempted carjacking in Texas.
TMZ reported that his representatives are waiting for further information about the incident from local authorities.
The 30-year-old actor is best known for his role as Phil Nance in the NBC show Surface. In the series, he was the best friend of Carter Jenkins, who finds a mysterious egg and hatches into an aquatic lizard with magical powers.
Hassell, who was born on July 16, 1990, in Texas, starred as Eddie Squarez in Lifetime’s Devious Maids.
He also played small roles throughout the 2000s and 2010s, including Clay in the 2010 movie the Kids Are All Right. The film, starring Mark Ruffalo and Julianne Moore, earned a best picture nomination at the 2011 Oscars.
He also acted alongside Ashton Kutcher in the 2013 biographical drama movie Jobs, directed by Joshua Michael Stern, written by Matt Whiteley, and produced by Mark Hulme and Stern.
In addition to his Hollywood projects, Hassell was also an author. In 2009, he released his book ‘Someone Should Tell You: Startling Revelations and Truths to Help You Understand and Improve Your Life.’
The 30-year-old was said to have been an avid skateboarder and surfer.
In a 2013 interview with Elle, he said: “Skateboarding’s been a huge part of my life, it also got me cast in commercials. I was into horseback riding and rodeos in Texas and when I moved to L.A., I got into skating.
“I did all my own stunts. I’m into anything with a board: surfing, wakeboarding.”
