A sweet moment when a firefighter dad who had been battling flames for 27 long hours was reunited with his daughters was caught on camera.
36-year-old Temil Ludwig from Queensland, Australia, has been giving it his all to fight back raging bushfires sweeping over the country.
In one particular incident, the hero has spent 27 hours working nonstop without any means of getting in reach with his wife and their two daughters.
After the man finally returned home, young Elara and Amira immediately came running towards him seeking a tight hug.
“It was so cute – he wanted to cuddle the kids but he was covered in ash and was worried about the kids breathing it in,” Temil’s wife, Michelle, said in an interview with Daily Mail Australia.
“The kids were so excited; he was like a zombie though. He still managed to smile. You can just see in the picture how much they adore him it was just so beautiful we were just so happy he was safe.”
As Mrs. Ludwig revealed, however, the happiness didn’t last long, as Temil was soon sent out once again for 17 hours.
“The kids and I were so worried as we watched the fire rip through from the top of the mountain where we live. We were so scared and we weren’t sure if we were safe ourselves – it just got out of hand really quickly,” the mother added.
Michelle also recalled the dreadful moment she taught something had happened to her husband after the police arrived at her home at 2 am.
Fortunately, Temil was fine but the officers warned the family to evacuate immediately due to the dangers of bushfires making it to their house.
After the entire family was reunited at their home, Mrs. Ludwig took to Facebook to praise her husband’s selfless actions.
“The girls’ real life hero is home after 27 hours of fighting fires. Unfortunately they are still burning, but we have him home and safe. So proud of him helping protect homes and properties from the devastating bush fire. Hats off to the amazing serviceman and woman volunteering their time to help others!” she wrote.
