The Taliban have told the United States to “have a heart” and send them more money after Washington donated $64 million to the embattled nation.
As part of the United Nations international aid deal concerning Afghanistan, several countries have chipped in and pledged a total of $1.2 billion in donations to the Taliban-run nation.
Though the US covers a large portion of the pledged funds – $64 million to be precise – the Taliban appear to be unhappy with the numbers and wish that Americans would give more.
“America is a big country, they need to have a big heart,” Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting foreign minister of the Taliban, said during a press conference.
“We helped the US with their evacuations to the last person, but unfortunately the US, instead of thanking us, froze our assets. The US is a great country, so it should have great patience.
“We should help each other, and the US should not punish but help a weak and poor nation like Afghanistan.”
After insisting that the Taliban want to have good relations with other nations and the international community, Muttaqi went on to demand that other countries no longer put pressure on the Afghan people and move towards a more “positive direction” based on diplomacy rather than enforcing “the policy of aggression” that “has not yielded any results in the last 20 years.point 523 |

Concluding his speech, the foreign minister called for economic cooperation as he suggested that “peace and prosperity in Afghanistan will be to the advantage of the entire world.”
As the debate surrounding international aid to Afghanistan remains in the hot seat, both Russia and China already shared their opinions as they insisted that Western countries should shoulder the majority of the burden.
“The US and its allies have a greater obligation to extend economic, humanitarian and livelihood assistance,” China’s ambassador Chen Xu said.
