A woman who had asked for her partner to “tastefully” decorate their living room wall got pranked after the man covered the wall in 6,000 Gummy Bears.
Nick Smith found himself on an extended stay at home thanks to the coronavirus lockdowns in place. That opened him up to a lot of special requests from his partner. So the 32-year-old builder decided to have a little fun with those requests.
Helping Nick were his daughters Isabella, 7, and Amelia, 5, and the trio spent more than four hours dressing the wall with sweets.
Nick even had a clip of the whole thing which he shared on their Facebook page The Smithy Family.point 204 |
The dad-of-two unveils his masterpiece to his partner Jess who looks less than impressed and asks: “What’s this?” Nick answers that he followed her request and “tastefully” decorated their living room.point 201 |
In fact, he says it’s probably the “tastiest wall anyone has ever done.point 71 | ”point 78 | 1
Nick explained: “I had some out-of-date sweets – one of my mates owns a shop and he was going to throw them away, but I thought I’d take them and use them to wind my partner up
“It took me and the kids four-and-a-half hours; there was ten boxes, which was six thousand sweets in total.
“It was pretty easy to get them to stick on – we were just licking them and popping them on.”
And Jess pretty much had the reaction you’d expect from a caper like that.
“She was pretty shocked when she walked in,” he explained. “She’d been out while me and the kids did it and they were out of the picture by the time she comes home, so I was left on the spot.”
Putting the sweets on was one thing but taking them off was a nightmare.
Nick added: “We’re redecorating soon, which is good because it’s taken all the paint off the wall!
“I had to literally scrape them off the walls – they stayed up about 36 hours in total.”
But like all family pranks, Jess eventually came around and saw the funny side of things and was even glad that it helped people laugh during the quarantine.
Nick said: “It’s been very nice. It’s really endearing reading everyone’s comments. It’s so nice to know that us doing what we’re doing as a family to keep ourselves sane during this lockdown is putting a smile on people’s faces.”
