In 2015, Anna Broom, a woman from Gillingham, England decided that she needed more money from the government even though she has been on the welfare program for 14 years. The reason behind this is because she wants a, quoted in Closer magazine, “fairy tale wedding and a “party in a castle” and expects the government to pay for the whole ordeal.

Because of the public’s negative reaction Broom has denied the article, but Closer magazine says that the article was consulted with Broom before it was published and she had no problems with it whatsoever, but she stated different words after the article was released in public.

The 32 years old Broom has been on disability welfare for 14 years since an eating disorder caused her to put on excessive amount of weight. She hasn’t had a job since she was 18 years old and her fiancé, Jordan Burford, is also with a welfare. Most of the hate comes from Bloom using the term “deserve” in the story. Although many people may agree that all couples should have the right to have a marriage, it’s difficult to say that anyone deserves this fairy tale wedding, regardless of one’s contribution to society.

According to Inquistir, Broom was paid $200 by Closer for the interview, which now she regrets. The couple have now decided that they will go along with a smaller ceremony at a government office.
