We all wish to do great deeds for others but only a few of us have enough guts to go forward and take the opportunity to help others when it comes to us.
The greatest gift to give is the gift of education, we have heard this but we do not have people around us who are in terrible need of help to be able to study.
In many schools of Africa, the problem still remains as there are thousands of students willing to study but there are only a few hundred schools.
The ones that are, are also victims of poverty and thus are not able to make it up to the mark in giving the students the right level of education.
This teacher who had been posted in a school in Africa realized how much the kids wanted to study and have a better chance at education but the schools were overcrowded and books available were not enough as well.
The man then decided to do something for the school and gave 80% of his monthly salary for the school.
His efforts for making lives better did not go unnoticed as the teacher who taught maths and physics, Peter Tabich, was awarded the Global Teacher Prize along with $1 million.
The award function was hosted by Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman who wanted to honor such people who are doing great deeds for the society.
The list had 9 other names from around the world but Peter won it. He was then praised for his great and respectable achievement.
The award function took place in Dubai. His name was announced and Peter broke into tears of joy.
He was overwhelmed and said that all the credit goes to the young kids who are capable and are willing to work extremely hard even though the opportunities are quite away from them.
He wiped his tears and said that the continent is filled with terrific minds who just need a chance to bloom.
