A 62-year-old elementary teacher from Florida kicked a six-year-old student with special needs after he refused to finish his lunch at Spirit Elementary School in Deltona on Valentine’s Day.
Holly Eicher has been arrested and charged with child abuse after the incident.
One witness told that Eicher asked the six-year-old boy to finish his applesauce but he was uncooperative and started screaming at the teacher.
When she forced him to finish his lunch, he kicked the teacher. Eicher responded by wrapping her leg around the boy’s leg to stop him from kicking her.
The witness also saw Eicher kicking the child under the table that made him cry out in pain.
The boy then allegedly spit in the teacher’s face and spilled his applesauce.
Eicher then asked the boy to clean up the mess, according to the affidavit.
After the boy’s parents noticed bruises on his body, they contacted Volusia County Sheriff’s Officer.
The parents told that the child didn’t have any bruises on his body when he left for the school.
Eicher was then arrested and later was released on $1,500 bail.
Eicher, who was working at Spirit Elementary School in Deltona for 18 years as a student education teacher, has been suspended after the incident.
Previously, Eicher was accused of physically abusing students in 2015 and 2019.
However, the allegations against her in both the cases found to be incorrect.
Eicher, who is a mother of three children, earned her Master’s degree in special education from Nova Southeastern University.
She had been working at the school for the last 18 years but now has been suspended after kicking the child and leaving him with bruises.
On March 11, Eicher will appear in court for her arraignment.
