An investigation has been launched after teachers were accused of taping face masks to children’s faces.
The incident takes place in Colorado where the Academy School District 20 has come under fire after a Chinook Trail Middle School student shared a worrisome selfie with her mother.

According to the student’s mother, Stephanie Butler, her daughter eventually admitted that teachers are using tape to secure face masks on students’ faces after she had pushed her to open up about the circumstances surrounding her selfie.point 206 | 1
Speaking to FOX21, Butler suggested using tape to secure masks on children’s faces is “a type of restraint.” She also insisted that children are losing a part of themselves by being forced to have their faces covered and their breathing restricted.
As the angry mom explained, her daughter told her that teachers at her school are taping face masks on the faces of kids who fail to properly wear face masks or prevent the coverings from slipping beneath their noses.
“It’s a new thing, if we can’t keep our mask on our nose, we get taped,” the sixth-grader told her mom in a text message.
After the incident, an investigation into the matter was allegedly launched. Meanwhile, Tori Skeldum, a mother of an 11-year-old girl who also goes to Chinook Trail Middle School, spoke out to DailyMail.com to confirm Butler’s allegations.
“It’s very sad our kids are going through this. She said they get two warnings to put a mask over their nose and then, if they have to tell them again, is when they get it taped,” the upset mom said.
“So it is a type of punishment for the mask falling down.”
