The 16-year-old boy who abducted Alesha MacPhail has been pictured with his girlfriend who was standing by him.
It is unclear when the photo of the couple was taken.
Aaron Campbell kidnapped the 6-year-old from her family home, raped and murdered her before dumping her body in the woods on the Isle of Bute.
The teen’s identity was revealed by a judge after he was found guilty of murder.
Janette Campbell, his mother, said his girlfriend was ‘devastated’ by the verdict but promised to stay with him.
It is still not known whether his girlfriend is still standing by him now that he has been convicted.
Mrs. Campbell told how her son broke down in tears when she visited him after he was arrested by police.
“That’s when he was crying. He said to me, ‘I don’t know why this is happening to me mum. I’m doing really well at school, all my friends, I’m in a relationship, I’m in a happy place at the moment. Why is this happening to me?’” she told the Sun.
“He has a girlfriend who is devastated but standing by him.”
The father of the little girl screamed “f***ing scumbag” at the teen. Robert MacPhail yelled out at the end of the trial as the verdict was returned.
Alesha was found lifeless in woodland on the Isle of Bute where she had been spending a summer break with her father and grandparents.
She was only 3ft 9ins tall, suffered 117 injuries and passed away from “forceful pressure to her neck and face.”
The 16-year-old tried pinning the murder on Toni McLachlan, the girlfriend of the victim’s dad.
Alesha’s heartbroken mother Georgina Lochrane wept as the verdict was returned. She said she was glad the killer “will not be able to inflict the pain on another family.”
The MacPhail family said in a statement they hope the teen is jailed for a long time.
