An 18-year-old autistic teen, who weighs 17 stone and five pounds, blamed his disabled mother for his weight.
William, who was diagnosed with autism when he was 8, ate a double cheeseburger and chips for lunch for two years.
He relied on fast food and ballooned to 17 stone and five pounds.
But, William blamed his disabled mother for his weight.
William’s mother Anita, who has five children, battled chronic illness and was diagnosed with arthritis, diabetes, and also has carpal tunnel in both her hands.
She was raising five kids while battling several illnesses at a time. She was unable to cook and mostly relied on fast food meals.
Due to this, William started eating unhealthy takeaways and used to eat a double cheeseburger and chips for lunch for two years.
When Anita got married to Surresh 10 years ago, he started making healthy meals for the family but William refused and kept on eating burgers, sausages, pizza, and chips.
William said: “I know that this sounds like the worst version of Twilight you’ve heard but it’s a literal love story. I forget that I’m even fat because it’s that good.”
“When I look in the mirror I see a pathetic, fat slob who has nothing to show for himself and that’s not the way I want to live.”
He blamed his mother for his weight as he said she couldn’t give him the right food and that’s why he’s overweight.
While Anita defended herself as she said if she wasn’t disabled, things would have been different.
She said William was very adamant and would not eat anything but pizza, burgers, sausages, and chips.
She said she couldn’t see him going to bed hungry and that’s why she allowed him to eat fast food.
Anita said breaking down in tears: “I do take responsibility for that and I am really sorry from the bottom of my heart.”
“In my mind it was id rather he has something to eat than go to bed with nothing. It pains me to see you that size but I can’t put you to bed with no food.”
William felt miserable for being overweight and he decided to lose weight as he followed a six-week diet and fitness plan.
He also joined a gym to burn calories and build muscle. Within six weeks, he lost 2st 6lb and has now lost 13 stone.
He said: “This whole process was tough to begin with there were times I thought I couldn’t keep going but it was 100% worth it. This definitely isn’t the end but by god, this is one step in the right direction.”
