A 19-year-old young man was arrested and charged after taking revenge on the 91-year-old priest who allegedly abused him when he was younger.
The incident occurred in Agnetz, France, where a teenager named Alexandre ambushed Catholic priest Roger Matassoli at his home and suffocated him by shoving a crucifix into his mouth.
The attack followed years after Matassoli was accused of assaulting four boys throughout the span of his career.
Following the allegations, the priest, who allegedly abused both Alexandre and his father, was moved to a different location but kept his name on the payroll.
According to the teen’s father, Stephen, the priest “shattered a whole family” and drove his son into a deep depression that caused him to want to take his own life.
After years of alleged abuse, Alexandre continued to work as the priest’s housekeeper until the day he attacked him and tortured him with a crucifix.
Following the murder, the 19-year-old was arrested by the police and charged with torture and murder.
According to the French media, a woman named Collette has previously spoken out and claimed that everyone kept the abuse allegations quiet even though the entire community knew about them.
She also claimed that the priest also abused her brother for years when he was just a child.
As Collette insisted, the authorities found a naked picture of Matassoli in a landfill but didn’t pay any attention to it because the priest convinced them it was taken during his teen years.
