A teenager from Tennessee and his duck brought tons of joy to the internet users by busting some pretty serious dance moves.
Seventeen-year-old Hunter Clay got Lauren as his pet five years back.
The two of them are now up to some silly antics amid the lockdown. Speaking to BuzzFeed News, Clay said: “My brother, when he was 16, he had just gotten his first paycheck and he saw that Tractor Supply Co. was selling ducks, so he bought the duck.”
Just a short time after that, Clay’s brother went to college, making Lauren Clay’s pet. “Me and the duck just got like really close,” said Clay.
“I’d say she likes me most.”
Most of the time, Lauren stays in Clay’s backyard. Her kind human has provided her with all the luxuries from a kiddie pool to a house of her own.
Lauren is also allowed to come into Clay’s house any time she wants where she loves to watch TV and interact with the residents of the house.
She can be seen appearing in Clay’s YouTube and TikTok videos.
Clay was overwhelmed by the song “If I Back It Up, Is It Fat Enough,” by Cookiee Kawaii that he found on TikTok. In the same days, he discovered something amazing about his duck.
“If you touch [Lauren’s] tail feathers, she’ll shake them, like twerking. And my brain just connected the dots,” Clay explained.
And that became the subject of Clay’s viral video.
As the shooting was going on, Clay’s mom and sister walked into the frame and did their part in the wiggle.
“The duck was surprisingly photogenic with the video,” Clay said. “She was really well behaved throughout the whole thing.”
The video became a TikTok sensation, quickly amassing more than 15 million views on TikTok. Clay also posted the video on Twitter where it got 6 million views.
The post is originally from February but it has gone viral once again as social media is the primary pass-time for people during the corona lockdown.
“More and more people have been retweeting it. I’ve seen messages like the world is going through a tough time right now so here’s something positive,” Clay added.
We need more things like that to live through these locked down days, Clay!
Speaking to BuzzFeed News, Clay said: “I think it’s just because, first off, it’s a really happy TikTok, really good vibes, but also I think the duck throws a lot of people off.
“It’s just like, it’s an infectious mood — like, He has a duck that’s dancing.”
Clay said his whole family is happy to see Lauren becoming the source of happiness for a lot of people. He also left a message for people having a duck as a pet.
“If anyone hears this and is thinking of getting a duck if you have a pretty good-sized backyard and you can fit a kiddie pool, you can do it,” Clay said.
“But if you have an apartment, don’t get a duck.”
