It is impressive to see how people turn their weaknesses into their opportunities and excel in everything they do in their lives.
Recently, A teen baker, Emily Athey who lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is baking such excellent and amazing cakes even after being legally blind.
Emily studies in Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs, and because of her being legally blind, she has been facing difficulties in finding a job though Emily is not completely blind as she can see things if they are at a very close range to her eyes but nothing more than that which makes it difficult for her.
Mischa Halberg, who is the owner and operator of Icing on the cake bakery in the same area, didn’t leave the chance to hire Emily for the job. It is a great opportunity for Emily as she got it after applying for 50 other jobs.
She has been working in the bakery for more than six months now, and she has learned different types of baking skills.
According to Halberg, Emily is really focused and fun to be around in the bakery. She just makes everything so much lighter and happier around her.
The Icing on the Cake page wrote a Facebook post about how Emily has learned to decorate cupcakes and cookies really well.
She is also able to do fondant decorations on her own. The bakery is proud to have Emily around because she is really hard working and learns everything quickly.
Emily has also caught a lot of attention on social media through her cake decorating skills and creative ideas to decorate the desserts.
It is hard to figure out about Emily’s blindness after looking at her work because her work is neat and fantastic. Yvonne Athey, Emily’s mother, commented on the post saying that she is really proud of her daughter.
Emily’s story is inspiring because it encourages people who are hiding their skills because of their physical disabilities. It is essential to encourage and motivate these people to work because, in spite of their weakness, they work really hard.
