A teenage gamer has tragically passed away from a stroke after he had been playing games on his computer all night.
The incident occurred in Udon Thani, Thailand, where parents came across the lifeless body of their 17-year-old son, Piyawat Harikun, in his room.
The boy had allegedly stayed up all night to play video games, causing him to suffer a stroke and collapse next to his PC.
As his parents revealed, Piyawat was doing all-night gaming sittings at the time of his school holidays. In addition, he would bring and eat his meals behind the desk in order to save as much time as possible for playing.
In the photos taken by the heartbroken parents, the boy was seen lying next to his chair with a pile of fast foods on his desk.
According to the parents, they have tried to tackle Piyawat’s addiction but were unsuccessful.
“I called his name and said ‘wake up, wake up’ but he did not respond. I could see he was dead,” father Jaranwit recalled.
As the medics confirmed after examination, the schoolboy suffered a stroke which was most likely caused by excessive, over-night gaming.
“My son was smart and always did great at school but he had a major problem with gaming addiction. I tried to warn him about his relentless long hours playing games and he promised to reduce it, but it was too late,” the father added.
“He had already died before he had a chance to change. I want my son’s death to be an example and warning for parents whose children are game addicts. They need to be stricter on their children’s playing hours otherwise they could end up like my son.”
