A 19-year-old social media influencer is facing an extensive list of charges after allegedly stealing a woman’s identity in order to get a credit card with which he spent over $19,000 on designer bags and a lavish trip to Hawaii.
Christian Aaron from Hollywood is a famed young social media influencer who boasts of around 185,000 followers on Instagram.
Just recently, however, the prosecutors charged the teen with several felony charges, including identity theft, on the basis that he stole the identity of Lisa Caldararo back in 2017.
As the prosecutors argue, Aaron and his accomplice gained their hands on Lisa’s credit card information before requesting replacement cards to be sent to the teen’s home.
According to the charges, the pair stole over $19,000 in order to afford a trip to Hawaii and purchase designer bags.
“As with all of the financial crimes our office investigates and prosecutes, this was an act of greed, but this defendant wasn’t just after money,” Timothy Sini, Suffolk County District Attorney, claimed.
“He committed these crimes in part to keep up the online persona he has crafted for himself and to get likes on social media.”
After Aaron’s successful rip-off, the boy allegedly attempted to spend an additional $31,000 on luxurious items. However, the retailer canceled Aaron’s orders due to suspected foul play.
Following the charges, Aaron, who is well-known for his makeup tutorials, lavish trips, and pictures in which he poses with expensive cars, has pleaded not guilty to eight charges and is facing a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison.
Speaking of the allegations, Aaron’s father, David, said:
“He’s a very good kid. I can’t imagine he would be tied up in any of this stuff. He comes from a good family. It’s a shame these allegations are being made. He has to have his day in court.”
