Teen mother was caught on camera with a smiling newborn in her arms just hours before the baby passed away due to left brain dead after birth.
17-year-old Teegan Barnard from Hampshire, UK, was seen cradling her baby boy in her arms after giving birth.
Moments later, however, the young mum passed away after being declared brain dead because she suffered a cardiac arrest during childbirth.
“Seeing Parker in his mummy’s arms where he belongs has been so important to me,” Teegan’s mother, 35-year-old Abbie Hallawell, said in an interview with Fabulous Digital.
As the grandmother revealed, she wanted to capture the bittersweet moment for baby Parker John Bernard to see when he grows up.
“I put them together at every possible moment. Now she has gone we dress Parker in vests with his mum’s picture on. I want to keep her close to him always,” Abbie added.
“We are all in terrible shock, I just want Teegan back. I didn’t realize my heart could break into a million pieces. I’ll never be the same again.”
According to the hospital staff, the 17-year-old mum suffered a cardiac arrest during childbirth because of excessive bleeding. While the midwives attempted to resurrect Teegan, she ended up in a critical condition.
After spending one month in the hospital with no signs of brain activity, Teegan was pronounced dead.
“I am so proud of Teegan and Parker I just wish so much she was here to see it for herself,” Abbie, who will raise baby Parker with her husband, expressed.
“She was so looking forward to being a mummy, she was so excited. I think people got fed up with us talking about it all the time.
“She would have been the best mummy in the world. She had so much love for him and didn’t even get to show him.
“I miss her so much, it’s unbearable. I can’t imagine the future without her, not hearing her beautiful voice again. I’d do anything to have her back I miss her more than anything in the world. We were more like best friends than mother and daughter.”
