A brave 15-year-old boy has been dubbed a hero after jumping into cold water in order to save a drowning 15-month-old toddler.
Ryley Ferguson from Knottingley, England, was walking his dog around the neighborhood when he saw a young child fall into a nearby water canal.
According to the reports, the toddler, whose name is Reggie, had been playing in the yard at his home before he managed to make a getaway and wander dangerously close to the water canal.
“I could hear this little kid shouting and waving. I realized how young he was and with him being on the other side I thought I need to go and get him or he’s going to go in,” Ferguson explained.
“A few seconds later, he did and I saw his legs sinking, I threw my coat off and jumped in after him. When I got to him he was basically at the bottom of the canal.”
After the successful rescue mission, the toddler’s mother, Rebecca, dubbed Ryley a “guardian angel” and thanked him for saving her boy.
“Our hero right there with my boy… this photo will be getting printed and put into a frame and put where Reggie can see it… so he knows who his guardian angel is…” Becca wrote as she shared a photo of her son and his savior.
Applauding the teenager were also his parents Amy and Michael who expressed that they are really proud of the 15-year-old.
“He was brilliant, he wasn’t strong enough to help the kid out of the canal, and he was holding him above water for some time so it’s lucky people came to help,” Amy said.
