We all know that physical abuse is never okay.
If you saw someone physically attacked in a public place, you would immediately call 9-1-1, right? But there is another kind of abuse that is just as damaging and can often go overlooked.
Verbal abuse can be just as damaging as physical abuse, though sometimes it is discounted and overlooked. Some people may not recognize the pain because it has no physical manifestation. But if someone’s being verbally abused in public, just imagine how much worse the abuse is when it’s behind closed doors.

The fact of the matter is that abuse is abuse, and it’s never okay.
When the popular show What Would You Do decided to have two actors stage a fight inside of a mall, everyone kept walking. Everyone but Martina.

During the staged fight, the male actor was very loud, derogatory, and abusive towards the woman. Nobody did a thing. People may have thought the best thing to do was to mind their own business. But if this couple was real, and they were really having a fight? This woman would be in so much danger.

Martina is only 19-years-old and still showed more strength and compassion, than any other person in the mall that day.
She pulled the woman away from the man to ask if she is okay. When the man comes over and tries to take the woman away, Martina literally stands between them so he can’t do anything. She showed genuine concern and compassion, and wanted to do her part to help this abused woman.
When she finds out that it’s staged and that this couple are just actors, everyone gets very emotional. She did a great thing! And she was the only one who stood up for what was right!
This is an absolutely amazing young woman, and we can all learn a lesson from her about doing what’s right!
