A teen is accused of breaking into a deaf 80-year-old woman’s house and stabbing her loyal 2-year-old dog while she was sleeping in her bedroom.
According to police, the 17-year-old boy allegedly entered the frail woman’s home on the evening of May 19 or early morning of May 20 and killed her loving pooch before stealing her jewelry and other valuables.
The teen started searching through rooms and crept into the woman’s bedroom where he saw her sleeping inside with the dog.
The weak woman, who is hearing impaired, didn’t wake up as the teen allegedly stabbed the dog using an unknown weapon before taking some of her belongings.
She immediately contacted police when she woke up with her pet stabbed to death.
Investigations led officers to a Woodridge residence where a 17-year-old Daisy Hill boy was located.
The teen was arrested in connection with several other alleged break-ins. He was charged with two counts of drug possession, six counts of burglary and commit an indictable offense, four counts of entering premises and commit an indictable offense, and one count each of animal cruelty, failure to take precaution in respect to a syringe, and obstruct police.
Because the teen is under 18, his crimes will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
