Teenager Lewis Roberts, 18, had been hit by a van and was put in critical condition.
Doctors proclaimed him to be brain dead, his parents were advised to turn off his life support in order to donate his organs but miraculously starts to breathe right before the moment was initiated.
After being struck by the van, the teenager faced lethal injuries to the head and had been flown by air ambulance to the Royal Stoke University Hospital. Doctors suspected that he was brain dead, allowing them to say their goodbyes and that he had fought hard to endure the pain.
He had been certified as dead last week, his sister, Jade, caught the miracle moment on video as others rejoice due to his recovery.
His sister had posted a video on the famous social platform, Facebook, you can hear people in the background saying “He’s just twitched,” alongside the machine that monitored his breathing.
He could not breathe on his own at first, Jade helps him by counting up to three, then she tells him: “I’m telling you Lew, you’re amazing, you are amazing.”
Just recently, the teenager was able to breathe on his own without the assistance of a ventilator. Although this is a victory for the teenager, he had to use it once again because of a chest infection which doctors still needed to take a look at during his recovery phase.
In the state of death, his eyes had not dilated; he suffered from brain stem death and had been certified as dead. When the family got news of Lewis being brought back to life, they tell sources that they’ve never witnessed this. Sources say that Lewis is the second person in the world to even be able to accomplish such a thing.
Recently, they had released a fundraiser called “A Pint for Lewis,” raising £2,000 for medical expenses and such. The family is grateful for the miracle of Lewis pulling through, and they are by his side as he reacts to the tests being administered at the hospital.
“We would just like to say, as a family, thank you so much and we are very grateful for everyone’s prayers and best wishes for Lewis.”
