His dad told him he could only leave school if he made $128,000 (£100,000) and he fulfilled the condition, proved his dad wrong and left school.

Tyler Ball’s razor business had a turnover of around $650,000 in the first month of its launch.

The business, which is now a male grooming brand going by the name BALLS, was co-founded by Tyler and his dad’s 40-year-old mate Matt Edge.

The brand is currently selling in more than 150 countries all over the world, and is hoping to have a turnover of above $11 million this year.

The idea clicked in Tyler’s mind when he noticed his younger brother was about to use a pair of scissors to shave his genitals.

With sixty-two per cent of the UK men saying that they use male shaving products, the market has a promising potential. On the global level, it is a $122bn market.

Tyler was 17 when he started his business of selling electronics online.

He wanted to quit school but his dad said he could only do so when he had $128,000 in his account. Tyler fulfilled the condition by launching BALLS and was free to leave school.

Tyler said: “My dad said, ‘You’re not leaving school unless you have £100,000 in the bank.’ Dad’s throwaway comment was the catalyst.

“My parents clearly had my best interests at heart, but sixth form felt like a box ticking exercise.

“I knew early on that I didn’t want to go to university. So, if this is what it was going to take to persuade my parents, then I was game.”

Tyler started his business venture with Alibaba. He used to sell iPhone accessories and then shifted to vintage shades, modeled by singers like Dollar Sign and Post Malone.

Tyler added: “I learned a massive amount from this.

“I had so much fun but became so focused on who was wearing the gear, I lost sight of the actual business. If activity doesn’t translate into cash flow, there’s no point.”

It was the time when he crossed paths with his brother heading to the bathroom with a pair of scissors, getting his million-dollar idea.

Tyler said: “Let’s just say my younger brother was armed with a frighteningly large pair of kitchen scissors and it wasn’t to cut a label off some new clothes.

“I was like, ‘No buddy, please. Not there with those. You’ll end up in A&E.’

“In a bid to find something a bit more user friendly online, it was apparent that there wasn’t anything in the UK market designed specifically to trim ‘down there’ safely and easily.

“There were beard trimmers and body trimmers, but these aren’t designed for such a delicate area and, understandably, people don’t necessarily want to use the same product that they use on their face.

“All of a sudden I thought, ‘Here’s a huge addressable market that isn’t being catered for.’”

David, Tyler’s dad, added: “It wasn’t long before I suspected Tyler must be making some serious money as the quantities of stock he was buying was rising sharply.

“However when he told me the actual amount I was really shocked.

“I remember thinking, ‘Wow, he’s got more money than me!’ He is an amazing young man and I am very proud of what he has achieved so far.”

Talking of the product they are selling, Tyler’s business partner Matt said: “There’s an old adage that says ‘You’re only as good as the tools you use.’

“And when it comes to grooming your groin, dropping the metaphorical ball should never be underestimated.”
