A group of mindless teens was spotted viciously attacking an ambulance while the paramedics inside were doing their best to save a dying patient’s life.
The incident occurred when the West Midlands Ambulance Service from the UK was responding to an emergency call.
After the paramedics arrived at the scene and began tending to the patient’s needs, their vehicle got surrounded by a group of thugs who began kicking, punching, and shaking the ambulance.
Fortunately, the crew was able to alert the police in time to prevent the attack from costing the patient their life. After the authorities arrived at the scene, the kids ran away.
Following the incident, Mark Hayes, West Midlands operations manager, shared his disgust for the youths’ actions on Twitter where he wrote:
“Words fail me, one of my crews responded to 999 call & whilst assessing the patient on the vehicle a group of teenagers thought it was ok to start kicking & punching the ambulance. Quick response from @SStaffsPolice but group ran off, thankfully crew & vehicle ok #NoRespect”
After the news went viral, fellow social media users backed up the NHS workers and condemned the teens for their actions.
“I don’t know how society has become like this to think it’s acceptable to assault emergency staff,” someone wrote.
“I don’t understand today’s attitudes, at all, getting old I guess but too often this seems to be the norm?” another one wondered.
One person suggested: “National service, absolutely. Something has to be done to stop or at least greatly reduce this downward spiral of disrespect within our society.”
One week prior to this assault, another incident in which an angry resident confronted the paramedics because they blocked his drive occurred.
At that time, the paramedics blocked a man’s drive because they were rushing to save the life of a young girl. The man then took pictures of their vehicle and placed a note on their windscreen.
The disturbing letter read:
“I have toke pictures off you leaving ambulance in middle off road, when there is no need for. See pic. You behavior is appalling and you should be kept responsible for you actions as ‘professional driver.’”
The note was signed: “Resident who can’t get to his house.”
