A bank employee in Texas who is accused of being an accomplice of an armed robbery appeared in court to face charges.
25-year-old Shelby Wyse was arrested and charged with violent robbery on Tuesday for her part in an aggravated attack on a woman who withdrew $75,000.
She appeared in court on Wednesday, wearing a Whitney Houston white tank top with her hair pulled up in a bun.
According to court documents, the security footage caught Wyse observing the woman as she conducted her work at the bank. Then, she allegedly sent a text message to Travoon Johnson, her boyfriend, who was also arrested in the robbery.
Johnson, 27, together with David Mitchell, 31, immediately attacked the woman who just left the bank with a huge sum of money.
“Presumably a go signal,” the indictment read.
The authorities are getting a search warrant on the bank teller’s phone to confirm the message.
Terrifying footage showed two African-American men attacked the woman outside a gas station after they followed her from the Wallis State Bank where Wyse worked.
The video, released by the Harris County Precinct Constable’s office, revealed one of the men jumped into a vehicle and back over the victim as she tried to fight against the thieves.
The husband of the woman was also seen running out of the store as she continued to fend off the suspect. Then, all three were involved in the fight over the purse that contained $75K.
The woman was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where she remained in a critical state.
Wyse told detectives that the vehicle used in the attack had been stolen, but police said that there are no records of the complaint.
Cellphone records also showed an exchange of messages between Davis Mitchell and Johnson. Mitchell was arrested immediately after the incident and the cash was recovered.
Both men were charged with aggravated robbery and are held at the Harris County jail. Wyse was ordered to stay in jail on a $75,000 bond.
