British Scientists Developed Breath Test To Help In Testing For Coronavirus

British scientists have recently created a breath tester that will help in the process of testing of coronavirus and said it can be used in GP surgeries, pharmacies, airports, and ambulances.

Although it needs to undergo further testing, the experts have provided information that it will immediately change the way on how the virus was spotted across the globe.

In the present scenario, the coronavirus is tested with the help of a cheek swab that is sent for an analysis to the Public Health of England and it takes between 24-48 hours.

The team from the Northumbria University collected the breath samples that were tested separately to receive biological information, which is known as biomarkers.

These biomarkers comprise RNA, DNA, fat and protein molecules, which will help in detecting diseases present in the lungs and other parts of the body.

Individuals are required to breathe into the device which is pretty similar to the Breathalyzer, which is used by the police.

However, the breath samples were already used before and the methods that were used previously have not been that reliable.

It happened because of contamination, issues of variability and loss of the sample, within the breath analysis.

But the device that is developed by the scientists in Newcastle has already solved these issues.

The data, which was collected, match close enough with the results from the lungs samples that were taken through surgical procedures.

Researchers believe that this device can help in diagnosing liver issues, brain issues, diabetes, lung issues, and cancer.

The associated professor of Northumbria University, Dr. Sterghios Moschos, said that they aim to reduce the requirement of bloodletting for diagnosis.

Many of the airports across the world, mostly in the US and Singapore, are already using temperature scanners to identify people who are suffering from fever, and also to detect affected individuals as well.
