Handwriting might not be used much nowadays due to the inception of smart devices in most of the schools in the form of Chromebooks and iPads but scripted handwriting is always very aesthetically attractive.
That is the reason some states in Texas added cursive handwriting back into their syllabus. In 2016, an article from The Washington Post listed the states which are requiring the cursive handwriting including Virginia, the great Lone Star State, Texas, and California.
Beth Mizell, the senator of the Louisiana state, told that it is an act of disgrace receiving some note from a college graduate written just like a second or third grader.
All the teachers for quite some time in the past were practicing to focus more on the typing speed of student rather than handwriting speed or style.
As for the year 2019-2020, this ruling will be fully standardized for all states in Texas which will require a bit adjustment for the teachers also. This modification in standards will rigidly require coaching of scripted handwriting from second grade and will proceed in the later grades. Many teachers find this incentive irrelevant and outdated but the others find this tempting. Those who oppose say cursive handwriting does not have any educational value.
How do find this incentive of Texas States? Do you think it is just a worthless annoyance or our grandma’s great scripted handwriting art is actually has lost and should be revived again?
