How will you react when all you had in your account was £1,000 and suddenly you receive $120,000.
Yeah, we all will be shocked and will wonder who was generous enough to give us so much money?
Well, believe me, no one is so generous and if something like this ever happens, it will just be a mistake.
This is what this couple failed to realize and landed themselves in some serious trouble.
Robert Williams and his wife Tiffany were overwhelmed with joy when they received a message that they have $120,000 in their account. The couple from Pennsylvania could not keep their joy in and spent all the money in a mere time of 2 weeks.
They received the money on the 31st of May and they spent it all between 3rd June and 16th June.
The couple without realizing that they are getting into a criminal offense spent all of the money and bought a car trailer, quad bikes, camper, and SUV.
They spent some of the money on redoing their house and some in repairing their car. They also took out some cash to give to a friend and also paid some of their due bills.
It was later on 20th June that the bank realized what mistake they have made. They then transferred the amount back to the account the money was supposed to go into, leaving Williams’ account with an overdraft of $107,416.
The bank then contacted Tiffany to let her know that they have to pay the cashback. The couple did not do it and the bank was not able to contact them again so they had to ask the police.
The police arrested then and during the investigation, the couple accepted that they had known the money was not theirs to keep but they had spent it anyway.
They were then left on a bail of $25,000.
