According to the UK Space Agency, Europe’s first spaceport is going to be built in Cornwall.
The new spaceport will allow people to have a weightless experience and reach Australia within 90 minutes.
Various rules are coming out which will allow the sub-orbital human spaceflight from this spaceports on the Virgin Galactic spacecraft.
The flights are right now under the observation and going through some tests in the US. According to the officials, the flights will start operating in the 2020s.
One spaceport will also be built in the Scottish Highlands which is in Sutherlands. The location is selected for launching the rockets which have microsatellites.
Tim Peake, who is 47 years old, is a British astronaut is saying that it is essential for us to start something towards space tourism.
He also said that having the first spaceport will offer some services which will hold the legislation in the place because the infrastructure is huge and big.
The UK Space Agency has put forward around $10 million for the funding of the whole plan, and the Cornwall Council will put forward around $15 million.
There are more contributions expected by other firms which include $0.6 million from the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership. $3.2 million contributions are expected from the Virgin Orbit, which is a US based space launch operator.
The spaceport can also become a fee-paying place for the space tourists to take suborbital pleasure flights and enjoy.
The legal and technical framework of the whole plan is being made with the US authorities as it will be lifting the US space vehicles from the launch site and bringing it on the UK soil. It is going to bring a new level of flexibility and responsiveness to Britain.
