When Alanna Merrie and her husband found out that they were expecting, they already guessed a couple of things.
They are also aware of that there was a high possibility for her to carry two precious babies at once.
Twins run on both sides of the family. And when her belly became bigger than the average size of most pregnant mothers, Alanna knew that she was going to give birth to a heavyset of twins.
“I did have a huge bump, though, and total strangers kept coming up to me, asking whether I was going to give birth on the spot, as I was that big,” she shared.
Alanna also had a feeling that the twins would be heavier than average. A doctor herself, she guessed her babies would be around five pounds each. Because they couldn’t be certain of their weight, the couple didn’t buy any clothes yet for the boys.
“I didn’t buy them anything, because I didn’t want to risk having to take things back because they didn’t fit them,” Alanna expressed.
When Alanna finally gave birth, even the doctors were surprised to see that her boys weighed nearly 17 pounds in total. That’s seven pounds heavier than average sets of twins!
“The staff at the hospital were saying to me that they have never delivered twins this big before,” Alanna shared.
While the couple is still waiting for the official records for the confirmation, the adorable boys are believed to be the heaviest set of twins in the history of Scotland. They cannot even fit into clothes designed for newborns.
