The relationship between a boy and his dog is a classic image that evokes the fun and carefree period of boyhood.
It’s a relationship that will leave its mark for a lifetime. After all, that’s what shows like Rin Tin Tin and Lassie sought to bring to popular media. Of course, to form such a bond, it’s better to start early.
That’s why the most little things in life give the greatest impact. That was certainly true for a little boy who instantly found his best friend thanks to a caring father.
It happened on August 15 when a little boy named Hudson was being picked up by his dad at school in Kennesaw, Georgia. Unknown to Hudson, a little surprise was waiting for them on the car.
The dad, who was taking the video, described the situation in the accompanying video description:
“I rescued a 3-month-old Australian Shepherd mix from the Atlanta Humane Society and went straight to my son’s school to surprise him.
“As seen in the video, he had a great reaction, but still wonders how he’s going to sit in his car seat.”
The video starts with little Hudson walking towards the car and the dad instructing him to open the door because there was a surprise waiting for him.
After a few tries with the stubborn door handle, Hudson excitedly opens the door and immediately comes face-to-face with a little pooch resting snugly on the car’s booster seat. At Hudson’s excited yelp, the puppy also sits up.
“Oh cute, a puppy! Oh, cute! You got me a puppy. He loves me!”
It’s obvious that the two were going to hit it off. The puppy gives a few licks to Hudson’s nose and Hudson also kisses it in return.
The puppy is surprisingly at ease with the whole situation and even obligingly looks toward the camera when the dad asks Hudson to pose with the dog. As the dog’s eyes face the lens, it’s like the puppy was saying, “Thank you! I’ve got it from here.”
Hudson even excitedly remarks on the puppy’s eyes, which are the same color as his:
“He’s a good puppy and he has blue eyes like me!”
And Hudson just goes on: “He’s cute and he looks amazing!”
Of course, soon enough Hudson realizes that he’s facing a conundrum:
“How could I sit in here if a puppy is in my car seat?”
The video then cuts off and we don’t know how they managed to work that out, but people were instantly taken in by the instant bond that both boy and puppy developed.
One comment read: “Awwwww that puppy and the little boy’s smile awww they are cute. This totally made my day.”
While another wrote: “Love the matching eyes.. cute.”
Either way, Hudson and the dog can look forward to many years of adventure together. And we’re sure they’ll manage to work out the seating order in the meantime!
