The Los Angeles to Seattle Coast Starlight train trip is one of the most scenic trips in America.
It combines some of America’s most beautiful views with a little luxury. And the best thing about it is that Amtrak offers the 35-hour trip at an affordable price. Although there are tickets starting at $122, there are also trips that only cost $97.
If 35 hours for a train trip is too much for you, there are also cheaper and shorter trips that you can take along the way. Because the view is to die for, don’t forget to take lots of photos!
The Coast Starlight trip will bring you through the foothills, forests, and mountains of coastal California, Oregon, and Washington. It also offers a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean on one side.
If you are interested, this daily train route passes through the Bay Area, Santa Barbara, and other magnificent cities along the West Coast. You will also see astonishing snow-covered mountains including the rolling valleys of California and Mount Shasta, as well as the expansive stretches of the Pacific coastline while rolling along the tracks.
“I just took the Coast Starlight last month, from LA to Seattle. It was a beautiful trip, especially the beach side track from Santa Barbara to San Luis Obispo and the Paso Robles pass in the mist,” Judi Romaine shared on Facebook.
Another Facebook user, Ken Martin, also shared about how much they loved the trip: “Took the Coast Starlight last week from LA to Seattle. One of the best trips that I have ever done, my wife and I loved it. We were on a trip around the west from Pittsburgh, Pa to La up to Seattle and back home. Bucket list item done but I think that we will redo this one- it was great.”
Inside the train, there are dining cars, Superliner sleeping cars, Sightseer lounge car, and huge couch seats with extra legroom. There’s also free WIFI so you can keep connected to your relatives, friends, and coworkers during your trip.
Amtrak also allows passengers to bring their pets for their adventure! Just make sure that you check all the requirements before going.
