Watching your loved one battle with cancer is as heart-breaking as fighting with it yourself.
Though certain types of Cancer are curable now and medical advancements are happening every year, bringing us closer to a cancer-free world; the earlier the cancer is diagnosed, the easier it is to cure it.
When the mother of 13-year-old Julian Rios Cantu was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time, he took it as a challenge and stood by his mom for the fight against it. However, the relapse hit him hard, and he became determined to create a device to save families from going through the same pain.
Higia Technologies, which Julia found with his three friends, has now introduced to the world a solution which can help detect breast cancer at its early stages. Julian, now 18, devised this technology with the aim to detect and treat cancer at its early stages.
Julian’s mother, though saved, lost her breasts in the fight against cancer.point 174 | This loss of his mother inspired Julian to design the “auto exploration” bra.point 243 |
Unlike regular bras, this is equipped with over 200 sensors which can study the growth and changes in a woman’s body.point 99 | Higia Technologies exhibited this bra in the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards and won a grant of $20,000 to continue their research on it and making it commercially viable.point 246 | 1
With users wearing the bra for as many as 60 to 90 minutes every week, the sensors can sense the regular blood flow in the breasts and their growth.point 227 |
If there are some discrepancies in the proper color, texture, and temperature of the breast, the sensors can detect them too.point 105 | Often, the changes occur when there is a tumor, the blood flow changes and the bra can warn the woman.point 188 | 1
If there is something to be concerned about, the bra is lined with an application which alerts the chosen medical professional by the woman. This way, cancer can be diagnosed in its developing stage when it is treatable.
Julian and his friends certainly deserve our respects and praise for this invention.
