Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson shared a post in which he talked about a tank that had been named after him.
‘’If you smell what America’s Tank Division is cooking!'” the 1st Armored Division wrote last week in a tweet. “Shoutout to the #IronSoldiers assigned to the @Blackhawk_SQDN for naming one of their tanks in homage to the @TheRock. Hopefully the ‘People’s Champ’ will see it and give you guys a shoutout and a retweet! #TuesdayThoughts”
The Rock also shared a picture on his Instagram account of some troops at Fort Bliss US Army Base in El Paso, Texas. They were standing next to a picture of a brand spanking new tank that has ‘Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’ written in pride of place on the barrel of its gigantic gun.
He wrote: “I’m sending a salute of respect & gratitude to the Blackhawk Squadron US 1st Armored Division for the honor of naming their tank (the most advanced in the world) Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
“Heavy duty, bad ass, sexy AF and built to take care of business.”
“But most importantly, thank you all for your service. Grateful to the bone.”
The Rock’s post received millions of likes and thousands of comments. While many congratulate Johnson, saying the 1st Armored Division made a “great choice, ” some take issue with Johnson’s praise of the tank.
One user wrote: “How much innocent [sic] people is that tank gonna kill?”
“Built to take care of business” [sic]…like killing children for money,” wrote another.
Another added: “Can’t believe [sic] you support this s**t? Those guys on the other site [sic] of the line are great men to [sic], with family at home also.. War is a looser [sic] game – be better!”
However, there were many who defended The Rock.
One defender said: “Sorry you’re receiving backlash over this post. Some people regardless what is going on with our country an [sic] culture etc. Will never know the meaning of respect to our troops and all they do for our country.”
Another said: “These people who are unfollowing you will be happy 1 day when this might save their lives. Such a great honor war or not.”
