A lovely pooch that was abused and shot at has become a therapy dog after she was rescued from the streets and provided with a loving home.
Maggie the Dog was found roaming the streets blind after she was beaten while pregnant and shot 17 times. Despite all the odds, the pooch survived and got a second chance at life after a Good Samaritan took pity on her.
“Found shot & full of bullets, ear cut off, pregnant, broken jaw, blind & wandering the streets! Now a therapy dog, spreading love & inspiring others,” Maggie’s Instagram description reads.
After undergoing several major surgeries, Maggie, who has over 250,000 followers on Instagram, was adopted into a loving home in Brighton, England.
As the ‘miracle’ dog’s owner, Kasey Carlin, revealed, Maggie is now a true internet celebrity and an inspiration to people all around the world. In fact, the pooch has become so famous that Kasey had to quit her regular job to take care of her Instagram account full-time.
“She has taught me and others so many lessons, we all know the lessons she stands for, we were taught them as kids. She reminds me every day of them, though,” the 25-year-old revealed in an interview with Bored Panda.
“Treat others how you want to be treated, don’t judge a book by its cover, love conquers all, be humble, live life to the fullest, help others, you create your own happiness, you can do anything if you believe! Every day she reminds me to try to be better and do better.”
On top of her magical aura, Maggie has also become a therapy dog who frequently visits places such as nursing homes and hospitals.
“I’m amazed every day that so many people are invested in her story. For so long, no one cared about her, when I agreed to foster her it was because no one else wanted to! I’m glad she can share such a positive message with the world,” Kasey added.
