In what is being termed by experts as a very American tradition, White TikTok users are being accused of stealing Black creators’ online content.
For this reason, Black TikTok users are making sure that their voice on the matter is heard loud and clear. And if that means going on strike for that very purpose, then so be it!
As far as the actual ‘stolen’ content is concerned, many are referring to the dance routines that many Blacks are famous for, and which they have been calling one of their own over the years.
Blacks have been undoubtedly been profiting off of their stellar performances but now, it appears that the tables have been turned as Whites can’t help but take a lot more than a little inspiration from their fellow counterparts.
What does that mean, well it definitely entails higher profits and not giving credit to the original masterminds behind the diverse array of projects at hand.
Everything appeared to be going fine until the famous soundtrack by Megan Thee Stallion was recently released, titled ‘Thot Shit’ that truly changed everything.
Shockingly, not even a single choreographer belonging to the Black community stepped up to the plate to help create a dance routine for that very song. And that left white users in a frenzy as they attempted to find the next best viral routine.
For that reason, thousands of Black TikTok users are not calling for a ‘Thot Shit’ strike because they are simply TIRED of people stealing their routines. Moreover, the decision was announced by Capkenknuckles in a recent video, where he captioned it with ‘We are tired.’
Here is where he spoke about how the entire African diaspora is on strike and won’t be making any more dance routines.
This might appear to be a small issue but in reality, it’s not.
Ever since TikTok’s launch, there have been millions of dance routines that have gone viral via the platform and that entails so many white influencers copying their moves.
