Many criminals and thieves are smart enough to accomplish their missions.
They can be sneaky and very difficult to catch.
But this absent-minded thief made a hilarious mistake that made it easy for police to catch him.
According to Newsflare, the robber suffered from bad luck and stupidity as he left his official identification at the crime scene.
CCTV footage shows the thief entering a cell phone store. The assailant approached the saleswoman and showed her his phone, saying that he wanted to buy a screen protector.
As the seller tried to take one for him, he started to move while keeping his eyes alert for passerby.
When the woman got distracted by a phone call, he quickly rolled up his bag and formed it into a makeshift weapon.
The robber battered the woman on the head two times and she stumbled backward. He immediately swiped a phone and escaped on a scooter.
Little did he know, his bag had torn and its contents were scattered on the floor, including his identification.
People filled the store trying to help the attendant and police took possession of the thief’s identification.
Another thief in Round Rock, Texas also tried to steal items from an unlocked car but the owner saw him. He quickly ran away from the scene but left his phone and backpack behind.
Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody shared the story on Twitter and said officers would catch the thief soon.
“Reminds us of the [Smash Mouth] song ‘All Star,’” the sheriff wrote on Twitter. “’Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me, I ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed.’”
