A woman was left devastated and heartbroken after thieves stole four-week-old puppies from her home.
The thieves reportedly used a crowbar to open Jeni Mery’s screen door on Friday night and took the purebred Cavoodles from the living room.
The incident sparked a massive hunt on social media after Ms. Mery wrote on Facebook: “PUPPIES IN EXTREME DANGER. PLEASE HELP ME.. On Friday night sometime before midnight 4 very young puppies were stolen from me on the Goldcoast.”
Ms. Mery added: “They will not survive without their mother. Please help me find and retrieve her precious puppies.”
The owner said she was devastated when she found out that the puppies had been taken away from their mother.
Pet detectives who run the ‘Missing and Stolen Pets Australia’ Facebook page rushed to her aid and started spreading the word.
Police later managed to track down the pooches and found the thief.
Queensland Police told Daily Mail Australia in a statement: “Police were informed yesterday from an anonymous source about the stolen puppies.
“They were located safe and well in a unit at Arundel at 5.30pm. Officers checked on the puppies again today and they are thriving and feeding well,” the statement added.
“Mum are Dad are understandably very protective parents at the moment.”
The thief, a 47-year-old man, has been charged with burglary and committing an indictable offense.
After being apart for several days, the puppies were finally reunited with their owner and mother.
“The biggest love and THANKYOU belongs to Kirrily Cull the greatest pet detective in the world!!!!” Ms. Mery wrote on Facebook.
“Thank you for bringing my babies home with your relentless efforts! None of this was possible without you!”
