Have you ever wondered why your bags often look damaged after you make a journey by air? Well, no one would have known if a woman had not caught a baggage handler on camera while carelessly tossing luggage at Honolulu Airport.
The baggage handler was caught red-handed while throwing the luggage of passengers down a chute at the airport.
Instead of gently placing the luggage onto the chute so as to allow the bags to slide, the worker was simply throwing them haphazardly. Many bags often bounced after they fell towards the bottom of the chute at high speed.
Although the bags don’t appear to be damaged in the footage, the damage incurred to their contents is unknown.
The incident was filmed by Vanessa Marsh, a reporter with the Australian newspaper The Courier-Mail, who was inside the terminal building and could clearly see the worker mishandling the luggage.
‘The mystery of all my broken suitcases is solved — this is the ground crew at Honolulu loading up a @HawaiianAir flight to Phoenix,’ Vanessa tweeted as she waited to board her flight.
The video went viral as soon as it was shared online prompting Hawaiian Airlines to apologize for the incident.
‘Aloha Vanessa, we’re very sorry to see this and appreciate you bringing it to our attention,’ Hawaiian Airlines wrote.
‘The way these bags were handled is not acceptable and our Airport Operations Management team is addressing this situation. Thank you.’
The footage was filmed on May 9, 2018. As of now, it is still not known what action was taken against the baggage handler since the airport authorities were made aware of the incident.
