Thomas Markle, 77, said that his daughter Meghan “changed” dramatically when she met Prince Harry and has “pretty much disowned both sides of her family,” the Sun reported.
Thoman is Meghan’s estranged father. He has not spoken to his daughter in years and is still yet to meet his grandchildren, Archie, two, and baby Lili.
He said that he couldn’t understand why his daughter cut him off.
Moreover, the 77-year-old insisted things took a turn after she “hooked up with Harry”.
According to the Sun, Thomas said that his 40-year-old daughter should “grow up” and make “time to talk” for the sake of her kids.
“I don’t know what changed her,” Thomas told ITV’s Good Morning Britain. “She’s never been that way before and once she hooked up with Harry she changed.”
“I understand she hooked up with Soho Club and a different group of people, but she has pretty much disowned both sides of her family and I don’t understand the reason for it,” he added.
Thomas is known to frequently slam Prince Harry and Meghan in the media, adding that the prince has “abandoned everyone”.
He made a point that he was not looking forward to his son-in-law’s forthcoming book that is due for release in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next year.
“I think Harry has abandoned the Queen, his grandmother, the royal family, the British people, and the Army,” Thomas said. “He’s abandoned them all.”
“All he does now is ride a bicycle around the neighborhood he lives in,” he added. “It doesn’t make sense.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have signed a number of gigantic deals since quitting their duties as royals and setting up their family life in the US.
Last month, the couple also ranked in Time’s list of top 100 most influential people after campaigning for charitable causes around the world.
However, Thomas insists that they do “everything” for cash.
“Harry is coming out with a book and that can’t be anything but cruel, and to insult his grandmother,” Thomas said. “It’s a ridiculous idea and it’s just something for money.”
“Everything they’re doing is for money,” he said. “To do that to your grandmother, who is 95 years old, is shameful.”
