Three jihadists have been sentenced to death for beheading two Scandinavian hikers.
Suspected two ISIS militants, believed to be Rashid Afatti and Jounes Ouzayed, and ringleader Abdessamad Ejjoud, were handed the maximum sentence after pleading forgiveness from Allah.
The three had recorded themselves beheading 24-year-old Louisa Vesterager Jespersen and 28-year-old Maren Ueland in Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains last year.
The video was shared in Islamist circles online, showing the men calling the women ‘enemies of God.’
In another video, four men pledged allegiances to the ISIS leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, in front of a white and black ISIS flag.
Most of them begged Allah for mercy before the judges decided their fate.
In June, the prosecutor described the jihadists as ‘human beasts’ and asked for death sentences.
Speaking for the family of Louisa Vesterager Jesperson, lawyer Khaled El Fataoui said to AFP: “We expect sentences that match the cruelty of the crime.”
Her mother, Helle Peterson, said: “The most just thing would be to give these beasts the death penalty they deserve.”
Petitions online have also called for the execution of the three jihadists, who admitted to killing Ueland and Jespersen.
The prosecution also said that the killers were ‘bloodthirsty monsters,’ pointing out that an autopsy report had revealed over 20 injuries on Jesperson’s body and seven on Ueland’s.
One internet user said: “Look into their eyes: Cruel, arrogant, conceited, sense of superiority, loveless. They are psychopaths. They love to kill and main and torture. Not one of them can do any of this on their own, they have to have others to hold their hand and urge them on. And they pretend to do it in the name of Allah. Just thick predators without a brain cell between them.”
Another wrote: “Poor women. What horrible and pointless deaths. Their killers deserve to die.”
A third commented: “The Morrocco Justice system is obviously much better than ours ???? These SCUM will never attack another lady !!! People who do things like this will never ever be of any use to society !!!!”
