As the RSPCA reported, the bald puppies have a severe skin condition known as demodectic mange. The disorder is caused by mites and results in fur loss.
Fortunately, the puppies were found and rescued in time to be treated. They were also named after Harry Potter characters by their rescuers and are currently on the way to recovery and finding a new home.
According to RSPCA, two of the puppies, who go by the name of Albus, Dobby, and Winky, were abandoned first while the third one was left behind a week later by who appears to be the same person.
“Their skin was so red and angry-looking when they first got here, but their fur has already started growing back at the base of their tails,” Gena Cameron of RSPCA said.
“It’ll be some time until we’re able to re-home them, but things are definitely going in the right direction. They were really nervous when they arrived and shaking. I’m so happy to say that they’re improving every day.”
As inspector Sarah Bagley added, the rescuers are afraid for the well-being of other animals that the person who abandoned the pups might have in their possession.
“It’s unbelievable that someone has dumped these puppies in this way, not once but twice,” she said.
“It’s taken a long time for the mange to take hold like this, in fact, it’s thought these puppies have probably had it for most of their lives.”
