Li Zehua, Fang Bing, and Chen Quishi vanished from the public sight after trying to inform the world about the true extent of the Covid-19 outbreak in Wuhan.
The three whistle-blowers, who uploaded videos to Twitter and YouTube (both platforms banned in mainland China), are still missing since February.
Their videos showed the gruesome side of Wuhan not reported by Chinese media outlets.
34-year-old Chen, who hasn’t been seen or heard since February 6, arrived in Wuhan before the lockdown hoping to provide the whole world with the truth about the outbreak.
The journalist’s disappearance was revealed by a Twitter post on his account, which has been managed by his trusted friend.
Chen’s mother also shared a video calling for her son’s return.
“Who can tell us where and how Chen Qiushi is right now? When will anyone get to speak with him again? Chen Qiushi has been out of contact for 68 days after covering coronavirus in Wuhan. Please save him!!!” his friend posted on Twitter.
It was on February 9 when Fang Bin went missing after sharing a series of horrifying clips, including one showing piles of dead bodies being loaded into a bus.
His last video showed officers knocking on his door to check his body temperature. He tried to fend them off by saying his temperature is normal.
Fang was allegedly arrested before disappearing.
25-year-old Li Zehua, a former employee of CCTV, was last heard on February 26. Before his disappearance, he had visited sensitive areas in Wuhan, such as the crematorium and the community that held a feast despite the outbreak, according to RFA.
After visiting the Wuhan Institute of Virology, he was likely targeted by police, the news outlet added.
Li, Chen and Fang were among several citizens who were believed to be punished for trying to warn people about the outbreak.
