A 28-year-old father and his three-year-old daughter were walking back home after shopping when a group of youths on bikes stopped them in Barnsley.
Matt Batt and his daughter Alice-Rose were targetted by the group and when the little girl told them they should be at home, one of the thugs wiped spit on his daughter’s face and told them “I’ve got corona”.
Matt told the Examiner Live: “We were walking back from the shops and my daughter saw these lads on their bikes and she said to me ‘can I go out on my bike?’”
When he told his daughter she can’t go out on the bike because of the virus, she told the same to the thugs.
Matt said: “My daughter’s a social butterfly so she said to them ‘you need to go home boys because of the nasty bugs’.”
The thugs then started abusing them while Matt told them to calm down.
When they carried on walking, Matt felt something on his back and then one of the thugs approached them and wiped the spit on his daughter’s face and said: “I’ve got corona.”
They also tried to steal Matt’s shopping while his terrified daughter hid behind her father.
Matt said: “They tried nicking my shopping and I only had milk and sugar really in there,” the dad-of-two said. I swung the bag round and they all rode off. My daughter was clinging onto the back of my legs.”
Matt said his three-year-old has left shaken and broke down in tears after getting back home. She is now scared to go out and play as she says: ‘I don’t want those nasty boys to get me’.
Matt said: “That is when it really hit me and even when she was outside, she saw someone on a bike and she ran back inside so it has shaken her up.”
Matt’s wife and Alice-Rose’s mother Katie was left shocked and furious after she learned about the attack.
The family has reported the incident to the police and they are investigating the incident.
Matt said this is not a joke and the thugs should have just laughed it off as his daughter is just three.
