”
In an interview with Parade, the 66-year-old actor opened up about his life struggles and obstacles he has had to overcome throughout the years.
When Tim was 11 years old a drunk driver killed his father, the loss of his father made him start drinking and partying.
In 1978, he was arrested and sentenced to jail for felony drug trafficking charges to two years.
Allen told Closer Weekly in 2017: “It was a watershed moment,”
“It put me in a position of great humility, and I was able to make amends to friends and family and refocus my life on setting and achieving goals.”
In 1997, he was arrested for drunk driving.
“By the grace of God I didn’t hurt anybody or myself in the years I was drinking and driving,” he said.
According to Parade, ‘’Tim served nearly two and half years in prison for cocaine possession, has been arrested for a DUI, and has entered rehab in the past.’’
Tim told: “I don’t want to be too philosophical about it, but comedy is my coping mechanism. It always has been,”
“To be perfectly frank, I’m going on 21 years sober. That’s the biggest blessing in my life,”
He eats healthy, hydrates himself, does cardio and weights, stretching, and even meditating.
“I can get myself so wound up in worrying or stress and I just gotta sit still,” he explained.
“I constantly feel like I’m underachieving both. I think I work too much because I love my work and I’m not 100 per cent sure I engage with my family enough,”
“It’s all right here,”
“It’s all gonna be all right.”
