While skills can be learned, there’s no doubt that you’re just born with talent. That’s why it doesn’t matter what age you are if you have a knack for something people will eventually notice even if you’re just a little kid.
For Andrea Hinay, that talent was dancing. The four-year-old was in a mall in Davao del Norte, Philippines, with her mother Aprilyn, 27, when a shop assistant teasingly asked the toddler to dance for them. And that’s all the encouragement Andrea needed.
One thing about toddlers is that they’re normally not so self-conscious. So when she was given the chance, Andrea wasted no time in strutting off her dance moves to the delight of both shoppers and store staff alike. She even used the shopping aisle as a catwalk and proudly announced her name and where she’s from to everyone around her.
Aprilyn took a video of her daughter as she brought the whole supermarket to a standstill as onlookers clapped in beat to Andrea’s moves.
Taking a page out of beauty pageants, Andrea says: “Hi everyone, my name is Andrea Uniz Hinay. I’m found years old, performing live! Mabuhay!” Now, who wouldn’t stop to clap for that?
Aprilyn proudly said: “Our whole family is really proud of her. She’s sassy and has God-given talent which makes other people happy. She just loves showing off her dance moves. Some of the comments in her video have really made our hearts flutter.”
If this innate talent can be nurtured, Andrea will be sure to learn even more complicated and elaborate dance moves, perhaps leading to amateur and maybe even professional dance gigs. And there are so many ways that her talent for dancing can find expression, either in dance groups or even the more refined ballet.
Whatever the case, her parents and family can definitely take pride in the fact that Andrea has displayed that talent early and has opened the door for her to pursue it further as a hobby or as a profession. Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised if in a few years’ time, Andrea makes it big in a dance competition on TV, all while proudly announcing who she is and where she’s from, just like she did in the video clip.
