Medical experts have weighed in on Tom Cruise’s new looks after recent photos of the popular actor went viral.
Over the weekend, the 59-year-old Top Gun star attended a baseball game between San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers together with his son Connor. While the A-lister was spotted smiling throughout the match, photos of him quickly raised eyebrows after people pointed out his new looks on social media.
While many speculated that the actor has had fillers or gained lots of weight, cosmetic doctors have now weighed in on the rumors from a professional point of view.
As Dr Tijion Esho, a top cosmetic doctor, explained, Botox treatment and fillers have become the norm for most A-listers who attempt to combat the aging process through science.
Meanwhile, Dr Nyla Raja spoke out about Cruise’s new looks as she suggested the movie star appears to have had anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers.
“It would appear Tom has overindulged in anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers which has actually had an adverse effect on his appearance,” she told FEMAIL.
“Without careful consideration to each individual patient’s facial structures results of fillers can make faces ‘appear distorted and unnatural.’”
Meanwhile, Cosmedics Skin Clinics founder Dr Ross Perry suggested that the actor’s new face could be a result of a combination of cosmetic procedures and weight gain.
“Tom looks significantly different in his most recent pictures and I would suggest it’s a combination of weight gain and dermal fillers,” he said.
“Tom’s cheeks look taut yet puffy and by having this amount of fillers placed in this area, which is said to restore plumpness which we lose as we age, it actually only makes his eyes look much smaller and gives him a chipmunk-type appearance.”
Adding to the debate, Dr Esho noted that Cruise likely had cosmetic procedures on top of changes his face had undergone due to aging.
“In terms of fillers and needle work, I can see that it’s likely he’s had subtle injectables on the cheeks for the most part to help ‘lift’ the face,” he said.
“It’s very important that fillers and botox are administered by well trained experts or the puffy results you can see in Tom are common.
“His cheeks are slightly puffy, which can often be referred to as ‘pillow’ face – in an effort to anti-age, he’s likely had filler in the cheeks to smoothen the skin and lift the mid-face but a less is more approach is advised to avoid the puffiness seen.”
