Tom Cruise is known for his many eccentricities both on and off the screen.
From his supposedly deity like status in the church of scientology to more ‘Hollywood’ quirks, the different stories about the actor are always fascinating and seemingly neverending.
Actress Annabelle Wallis, who costarred with Cruise on the 2017 reboot of “The Mummy”, provided yet another story. According to the actress, Cruise does not want or allow anyone else to be run together with him on-screen.
Wallis said that there was one scene in the movie where the two were supposed to run together. According to her, Cruise told her that she can’t do that because no one can run together with him in the same scene.
Rather bemused by the strange request, Wallis said she reasoned with Cruise, saying that she is a fantastic runner in real life. To prove this point, the actress said she deliberately decided to run on her treadmill when Cruise can see her. After a few of such instances, Wallis was given running scenes.
Wallis said that she was very excited to be given what turned out to be a rare opportunity. She likened the permission to winning an Academy Award because she was so happy that Cruise acknowledged her as an equal of sorts in terms of physicality.
While Wallis’ excitement may sound a bit exaggerated, it is true that Cruise takes his stunts very seriously. For instance, he actually performed a stunt for “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” which involved him to skydive from 25,000 feet high.
Moreover, the 58 year star could only deploy his parachute just 3,000 feet off the ground, making the stunt that much more dangerous and thus thrilling for the audience members.
Earlier this year in Mars, NASA confirmed that Cruise is preparing himself to shoot a movie in outer space. It is said that Cruise is working with the equally idiosyncratic billionaire Elon Musk and his company SpaceX to shoot scenes in the International Space Station.
At the same time, while Cruise’s professionalism is praiseworthy, he has also been singled out as one of the most difficult person to work along side with.
