Cast Away actor Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, appeared to be over the moon as they returned to their Los Angeles home after beating COVID-19.
The couple previously tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Australia where Mr. Hanks was shooting Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis movie.
After both Hanks and his wife began experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, they tested positive for the killer bug and got hospitalized.
Following the diagnosis, Hanks shocked his fans as he announced he and his wife tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
“We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus, and were found to be positive,” the Forrest Gump actor shared in his Instagram post.
With recovery underway, Hanks once again reached out to his fans and thanked them for support while explaining they self-isolated to avoid infecting others.
“Hello folks, @ritawilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us. We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else,” he wrote in his message.
“There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness. We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no?”
After beating COVID-19, the couple was discharged from the hospital and allowed to return to Los Angeles where they were pictured driving around in their car on Friday, March 27.
