During his trip to London during which Tom Hanks attended the Sunday Toy Story 4 European premiere, the actor invited hospitalized children to see his new movie in a pre-release screening.
62-year-old Hanks brightened up the day of dozens of children at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital after making a surprise visit and treating the kids to the Toy Story 4 pre-release screening.
To make all of this possible, Hanks collaborated with MediCinema, a charity that runs six in-hospital cinemas allowing people with severe health conditions to enjoy the hits just like everyone else.
Before treating the sick kids and their families to the special event, Tom was also more than happy to pose with them for unforgettable selfies.
The actor’s surprise visit to the hospital followed one day after the 62-year-old attended the Toy Story 4 premiere in London.
Speaking of the franchise’s new addition, Keanu Reeves, to the MailOnline while on the red carpet, Hanks admitted taking the actor in their cast was “the greatest idea ever.” Sadly, however, he also revealed he never got the opportunity to hang out and bond with him on a personal level.
“We never get to see each other when he makes these movies,” Hanks said.
“The first time I was told Keanu was going to be in it, I was told there was this new character called Duke Caboom and I just thought, ‘That’s the greatest idea I’ve ever heard.’”
As Hanks went on to explain, the voice acting is “a very lonely process,” as the actors involved “don’t meet each other until the movie comes out.”
“The recording process takes about five hours because you have to get to these emotional places on the microphone,” Tom added.
“Then when that’s done you stumble out of the session the next person coming into the session might be Tony Hale or Tim Allen and you have about five minutes of ‘How’s it going?’ But you don’t really get to see what they’ve done until the movie is finished.”
The plot of Toy Story 4 picked up where the third movie left off. After Andy started a new chapter of his life by going to college and handing his toys over to a young girl named Bonnie, Woody and the toy gang, including a new toy called Forky, embark on a journey of their lifetime together with little Bonnie.
